TM begins training observers for next elections
Long term observers trained from 10th to 11th of this month

Transparency Maldives (TM) says the organization has begun training long term observers for the next Presidential elections.
Senior Project Coordinator Ibrahim Thayyib said long term observers were trained from 10th to the 11th of this month. Twenty observers, four from capital Male’ city and 16 from Atolls, joined in on the training.
Thayyib said the observers will be active in determining the political climate of the nation prior to the elections.
Observers were educated on procedures they have to follow and observe elections independently and impartially.
TM launched a project back in April this year, titled ‘Elections Project’. The project seeks to increase public participation in elections. As part of this project, TM observed the last Local Council Election.
