Member of Parliament for the Kendhoo constituency, Mauroof Zakir, has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu intends to observe how many Maldivian citizens will mobilize against movements opposing the allocation of Maldivian land to foreign entities.
Speaking at an emergency rally titled "Dhivehinge Bin Dhivehinnah" on Saturday night, MP Mauroof stated that a high-ranking leader of the ruling PNC parliamentary group had personally shared that information with him.
Member Mauroof noted that a PNC member stated President Muizzu wishes to gauge the extent of public opposition to these activities and determine the level of resistance. He further highlighted their confidence that the Maldivian people would not participate in such movements, ensuring the administration's activities can proceed effectively.
I wish to call upon the Maldivian people to join us on November 13 to demonstrate their opposition to President Muizzu’s remarks. We must stand together to show that the citizens of this country reject the settlement of Zionists on our soil and the gifting of Maldivian land to foreign entities through indefinite or 99-year leases.Mauroof Zakir
Furthermore, he urged all citizens who oppose the settlement of foreigners in Rasmalé or on Maldivian soil, as well as those calling for a public referendum on the matter, to join a mass protest scheduled for 8:30 p.m. this coming Friday, November 13. MP Mauroof also called on the public to widely circulate and use the "No" logo associated with the project on social media.
