President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has declared Thursday, November 12, a government holiday.
The President's Office has officially announced that President Muizzu has declared Thursday, November 12, a government holiday in connection with this year's Republic Day.
The President made this decision in light of the fact that Republic Day, a public holiday, falls on Wednesday, November 11. By declaring Thursday, November 12, a holiday as well, the government aims to avoid a single isolated working day between the holiday and the weekend.
The President's Office stated that the primary objective of this decision is to ensure government employees can enjoy an uninterrupted holiday period during the upcoming break.
With this decision, government employees will enjoy a continuous four-day holiday, including the Republic Day break and the weekend. The holiday period will extend from Wednesday, November 11, through Saturday, November 14.
In line with established government practice, official working days that fall between two government holidays have previously been declared holidays to provide greater convenience for the general public and employees.
Following the President's decision, government agencies are currently making the necessary arrangements to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of essential services during those days.
