Opposition MDP National Council member Ahmed Saleem (Maaz Saleem) has warned that the Ras Male' project is shrouded in numerous hidden dangers, raising concerns that it could lead to the establishment of a "state within a state" in the Maldives.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday regarding allegations that a significant portion of Ras Male' has been permanently allocated to Eagle Hills, Maaz Saleem stated that the activities behind this project are far from minor.
He stated that the concept being introduced is a township model, which he claimed is a facade for efforts to establish a separate state.
Maaz Saleem stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu introduced significant amendments to the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Act specifically to facilitate this agenda. He noted that as a result, the groundwork is being laid for the establishment of a separate state within a territory inhabited by Maldivian citizens.
Therefore, what is being established here is effectively a separate state—a distinct entity being formed within the territory of the Maldivian people. These are alarming developments. Furthermore, what we are witnessing in the aftermath of this is the clear manifestation of efforts to give rise to a Zionist state.Ahmed Saleem
Furthermore, Maaz Saleem stated that efforts to establish a Zionist state are evident through these actions, with Zionists directly arriving and settling in the area. He further emphasized that this is a matter of grave concern that should instill deep fear and apprehension among the public.
Noting that it would be extremely difficult to stop the matter once it has concluded, Maaz Saleem urged the public to take a stand early and join the opposition in raising their voices against it.
