In a post shared on X, Dr. Jameel leveled sharp criticism against the government and Mohamed Alabbar, the head of Eagle Hills, the company spearheading the Ras Male' project.
In his post, Dr. Jameel noted that the tactics employed by Mohamed Alabbar and Eagle Hills to sway public opinion regarding the Ras Male' project are not new to the Maldivian people. Highlighting that the Maldives has been an Islamic nation for centuries, Jameel asserted that the country’s faith, independence, and national identity are not commodities for sale.
Addressing Alabbar, Jameel stated that while he may believe financial influence can be exerted over President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration, he should not mistake the government’s cooperation with his personal interests for the consent of the Maldivian people.
