Adhaalath Party President and former Home Minister Sheikh Imran Abdulla has questioned the government's decision to grant reclaimed land—originally intended to resolve the housing crisis for Maldivians—free of charge to an entity with Zionist interests, asking who received what and in what amount in exchange for the deal.
In a post on X on Monday, Sheikh Imran questioned the government's decision to grant reclaimed land—developed using public funds to address the housing crisis—free of charge to a party with Zionist interests. He demanded transparency over who benefited from the deal and the extent of the incentives involved.
Sheikh Imran has previously voiced strong criticism against the current administration regarding the decision to lease a significant portion of Ras Male' to Eagle Hills for a period of 99 years.
Sheikh Imran stated that leasing a significant portion of Ras Male' to Eagle Hills for 99 years is unacceptable. He asserted that, based on available information, this transaction is a dangerous and treasonous plot intended to surrender the Maldives to Zionists in the long term, drawing a parallel to the settlement of Zionists on Palestinian land.
Sheikh Imran emphasized that those with genuine devotion to their religion and country would never engage in such a malicious act, calling for an immediate halt to the transaction.
In addition to Sheikh Imran, several political figures and Members of Parliament have characterized this as a criminal scheme orchestrated by President Muizzu and government officials to embezzle funds. They further alleged that the project is a kickback scheme designed to secure funding for the upcoming presidential election.
