The Criminal Court on Wednesday held a hearing in the bribery case against Yoosuf Naeem involving the lease of V. Aarah.
The case is currently proceeding in the Criminal Court after the High Court overturned the original verdict and ordered a retrial. Yusuf Naeem had previously been convicted of bribery and sentenced to 3 years, 2 months, and 12 days in prison before the appellate court's intervention.
During the hearing, presiding Judge Ali Nadeem clarified the current status of the case with both parties, following the High Court's ruling.
During the hearing, the state prosecutor referenced the High Court's ruling and requested that the court reach a verdict only after providing both parties the opportunity to deliberate on the points raised by Yoosuf Naeem regarding the elements of the offense.
During the hearing, Yoosuf Naeem requested the court for an opportunity to appoint legal counsel. Consequently, the presiding judge granted him a 10-day period to secure legal representation.
Consequently, the next hearing for this case will be scheduled following the conclusion of that period.
