The Criminal Court has sentenced a man to seven years in prison for exposing a minor to sexual acts.
This sentence was passed on September 17, 2026, against an individual identified as Ahmed Naeem.
According to the court's verdict, Ahmed Naeem was found guilty under Section 6(a) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenders Act. As a penalty for this offense, the presiding judge sentenced him to seven years in prison, pursuant to Section 6(b) of the same Act.
Furthermore, the Criminal Court has also presided over two counts of grooming a minor for sexual abuse filed by the state against Ahmed Naeem.
However, none of these charges were proven in court beyond a reasonable doubt, as required under Article 51(h) of the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives.
