Former President Mohamed Nasheed, the Chairperson of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), has announced that an investment forum will be held during the party's congress, which is scheduled to begin on October 1st.
Speaking at a press conference held by the party on Wednesday, he stated that the party's project office has been working closely with local councils. Nasheed noted that, as a result of these efforts, the councils have submitted a total of 100 commercial projects.
These projects are designed to directly benefit local residents and generate sustainable revenue for the islands. In essence, they are commercial ventures; these 100 projects represent 100 distinct business opportunities. At the upcoming MDP Congress, we intend to open these commercial prospects to the business community. An investment forum will be held alongside the Congress, providing a platform where the business opportunities proposed by the local councils will be officially presented to potential investors.Mohamed Nasheed
President Nasheed stated that the path is now clear for entrepreneurs interested in investing in council projects to collaborate with local authorities, noting that such ventures would directly benefit the residents of those islands. He further emphasized that these initiatives would financially empower local councils, leading to an overall improvement in the local economy and the living standards of the islands.
