Business Owners Petition Mayor Over STO’s Harbor Food Court Eviction Notice

Operators of the food courts in the Male' harbor area have expressed deep concern following an eviction notice issued by the State Trading Organization (STO). In response, the business owners met with Male' City Mayor Adam Azim to formally submit a petition regarding the matter.

The business owners operating these food courts met with Mayor Azim on Sunday afternoon at the Male' City Council office.

Sharing details on the matter, the City Council stated that STO issued a 90-day eviction notice to the food court operators, citing plans to proceed with a further development project in the area. However, the City Council noted that business owners expressed concerns that the sudden eviction notice would lead to irreparable financial losses for establishments that have made significant investments in the location.

The City Council stated that the petition submitted by the business owners during the meeting seeks a fair resolution to the issue, ensuring that those leasing the food court stalls do not incur significant financial losses.

Regarding the meeting, the Mayor stated that the City Council is closely monitoring and empathizes with the grievances and concerns raised by these small and medium-sized enterprises. Furthermore, Azim assured that the Council would work towards finding a viable solution by consulting with relevant authorities to ensure minimal impact on the business owners.
