We must acknowledge the need to accelerate project speeds: Minister Shafeeu
Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu acknowledged before Parliament that several projects under the Ministry are facing delays and emphasized the need to expedite their progress. The Minister noted that with over 160 ongoing projects, some delays have occurred due to the time required to ensure quality standards are met.

Minister of Education Dr. Ismail Shafeeu has acknowledged that there are ongoing projects under the ministry's mandate that require acceleration, stating that he accepts the need for increased speed in their implementation.
During Tuesday's parliamentary session, Minister Shafeeu was summoned for questioning by the MP for the Kanditheemu constituency, Ameen Faisal. The lawmaker sought specific timelines for the commencement and completion of projects at Sh. Feydhoo School and Bileffahi School, as well as the expected completion date for the eight-classroom block at Goidhoo School.
In response to the question, Shafeeu acknowledged that the Goidhoo project has faced slight delays, and noted that the Feydhoo project is also experiencing setbacks. He emphasized that if improvements are to be made, it is not ideal to remain silent about the issues that need addressing.
Minister Shafeeu stated that with approximately 160 projects currently underway in the education sector, the Ministry is actively supervising sites to ensure that all work carried out by construction companies meets quality standards. He further acknowledged that there are internal processes within the Ministry that require further streamlining and acceleration.

We must guarantee that the work being carried out is both durable and of a professional caliber. Adhering to these standards requires a certain amount of time, which has led to some delays. Shafeeu stated that President Dr. Muizzu has instructed that all projects funded by public money must be executed to a high standard. He further noted that projects are experiencing delays due to the time required to ensure these quality standards are met, adding that the Ministry must now focus on accelerating the pace of work.
