Justice will be served regardless of perpetrator's identity or political affiliation: President Muizzu

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that he will establish justice in its truest sense in the Maldives, without regard for an offender's identity or political affiliation.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the PNC Congress held on Friday night, the President stated that national stability can only be achieved through the full establishment of justice.

President Muizzu stated that justice is a two-way street and must never involve any form of cruelty or oppression. He emphasized that the rule of law must be upheld against those who commit crimes and violate the rights and property of citizens, noting that failing to take such action would be a failure of justice itself.

Any individual who commits a crime will face the legal penalty. No consideration will be given to their identity, their lineage, or their political affiliation.

Emphasizing that his administration does not take politically motivated punitive action against individuals, President Muizzu stated that by the third year of his term, no political leader would be in prison—a milestone he noted as unprecedented in the country's history. Furthermore, the President gave his assurance that he would govern with honesty and integrity, upholding the principles expected of leadership in a hundred percent Islamic nation.

Furthermore, emphasizing that just governance is only possible through an independent judiciary, President Muizzu highlighted past incidents where judges were taken hostage while asleep in their homes, as well as the occasion when Supreme Court justices were arrested and imprisoned after the roof tiles of the court building were forcibly removed.
