Approximately 25 employees are being dismissed daily, only to be replaced by individuals handpicked by government: Aik

Aik Ahmed Easa, a member of the MDP Lawyers' Committee, has stated that the dismissal of employees under the guise of "rightsizing" state-owned enterprises is not a sincere attempt to reduce costs. Instead, he characterized it as a pretext used by the government to create vacancies for its own political appointees.

Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fala Surukhee" program, Aik stated that while employees are being dismissed under the guise of reducing administrative costs, there should be no justification for reinstating them simply because they sign up as members of the ruling PNC.

However, he noted that the government is currently shaping its policies to ensure that PNC employees do not face redundancy.

Aik stated that although the government claims state-owned enterprises are downsizing to reduce costs, there is no truth to these assertions. He noted that while approximately 25 employees are being dismissed daily, they are being replaced by individuals handpicked by the government. This, he argued, demonstrates that the administration has no genuine intention of cutting public expenditure.

Elaborating on the details of those being dismissed, Aik further stated that the employees currently being terminated are members of the main opposition party, the MDP. Consequently, he characterized these actions as a targeted campaign against a specific political ideology.

Significant public concern has emerged over the dismissal of a large number of employees from state-owned enterprises under the guise of corporate restructuring. Opposition figures are questioning the government's sincerity, particularly amid allegations that those terminated are being replaced by new appointees through political influence.
