A Maldivian flight scheduled to travel from Cochin, India, to the Maldives has been canceled, leaving a large number of Maldivian passengers stranded and without information regarding their travel status.
A passenger scheduled to travel on the flight told RaajjeMV that they checked in at the airport at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, but were only taken to the boarding area long after the scheduled departure time. The flight was originally slated to depart at 2:00 p.m. Indian Standard Time; however, the passenger noted that instead of receiving the standard safety briefing after boarding, a team of engineers spent a significant amount of time working on the aircraft. Additionally, the passenger reported that the flight experienced intermittent power failures during this period.

Noting that passengers were kept onboard the aircraft for over four hours, he highlighted that the flight included individuals recovering from major surgeries and patients requiring supplemental oxygen. He further emphasized that the necessity of transferring these patients caused them significant distress and hardship.

He further stated that following widespread complaints, passengers were moved to a hotel on Wednesday night. However, after being checked out at 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning and transported back to the airport, they were informed that the flight had been cancelled again. Consequently, those who had been waiting at the hotel were returned to their accommodations.
According to reports, the Maldivian flight remains grounded. A passenger stated that they have yet to be informed of a specific departure time.
