SriLankan Airlines, Maldivian sign agreement allowing passengers to travel to 17 destinations across Maldives on a single ticket

SriLankan Airlines has signed an interline agreement with Island Aviation Services, the operator of the Maldives' national carrier, Maldivian, as part of its efforts to expand regional operations. Under this agreement, passengers will be able to travel seamlessly to 17 destinations across the Maldives using a single ticket.

According to Sri Lankan media reports, this agreement will allow passengers traveling to and from the Maldives via Velana International Airport and Gan International Airport to book flights on both SriLankan Airlines and Maldivian using a single electronic ticket.

By integrating SriLankan Airlines' international network with Maldivian’s domestic operations, this partnership will significantly enhance connectivity to the Maldives' remote islands and popular tourist destinations. The airline stated that this collaboration will offer greater convenience and seamless travel options across the archipelago for both holidaymakers and business travelers.

SriLankan Airlines currently operates three daily flights to Velana International Airport and two weekly flights to Gan International Airport.

The airline stated that this interline agreement will create new booking opportunities for travel agents, tour operators, and corporate travel planners, as well as individual travelers. Furthermore, the airline noted that this partnership is expected to facilitate an increase in passenger traffic across routes serving both Malé and Gan.

SriLankan Airlines' Country Manager for the Maldives, Nayomi Tennakoon, stated that this partnership will enable passengers traveling across the airline's international network to reach numerous destinations within the Maldives via Male' and Gan seamlessly using a single ticket.

SriLankan Airlines stated that this initiative is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen regional connectivity while providing travelers with enhanced convenience and expanded opportunities.

SriLankan Airlines currently serves 130 destinations across 63 countries worldwide, including locations reached through its codeshare agreements. The national carrier operates direct flights to 33 global destinations, utilizing a fleet of Airbus A330-200/300 and A320/321 aircraft.
