Even official declarations credited to cabinet members operating within the very same internal network crumble upon inspection into complete inventions.

With deceit spreading like an uncontrollable contagion throughout this state apparatus, conditions have degraded to such a degree that figuring out which official tells the truth has become an impossible riddle.

Pledges made to everyday citizens concerning the fiscal health of the nation, the wider state of the economy, and ongoing infrastructural undertakings continually unravel into groundless bluster.

Eroding faith under the cover of progress

A ruling regime forfeits its legitimacy primarily when an endless stream of untruths is force-fed to its own populace. Peddling such deceptive narratives beneath the pious banner of public welfare and progress sends shockwaves through state stability while thoroughly gutting whatever faith the citizenry has left.

While the people at the helm preach about leading by example, their real-world conduct stands in absolute contradiction to their lofty rhetoric.

The most recent spectacle of this disconnect surfaced through the public remarks delivered by lawmaker Ibrahim Shujau at a political assembly of the main ruling People’s National Congress (PNC).

Invented phone calls and staged retaliation

Taking the podium at the PNC event, the lawmaker proclaimed to the crowd that he had received an incoming telephone call from Mohamed Ameen, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, while crossing the bridge en route to the venue. Shujau maintained that he was relaying a direct communique from Minister Ameen meant specifically to counter former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, claiming the minister asked if he was speaking that night, noted he held a message directed at Yameen, and pledged that a second wide-body passenger jet was on the way.

The parliamentarian further asserted on the minister's supposed behalf that, through divine grace, visitor arrival quotas would be achieved, and regional flight operations had already launched toward the Pacific.

Internal denials and public humiliation

However, Minister Ameen flatly dismantled every single element of Shujau's tale, clarifying plainly that he has never required third parties or proxies to pass along communications for him, insisting that whenever he has something to say, he possesses full capability to speak directly to the recipient without relying on an intermediary.

This pointed correction exposed how high-ranking political figures inside the administration are actively circulating unadulterated fiction from political rally stages. When a sitting lawmaker invokes a cabinet member's name to invent statements the minister never actually uttered, it sparks an obvious inquiry regarding whom Shujau genuinely intended to mislead, and lays bare the disturbing motive driving this regime's campaign to dupe the public through massive falsehoods.

Distorting morals to retain power
