Minister Ameen refutes claims made by MP Shujau, stating that MP’s remarks regarding a message to be delivered to Yameen are false

The claims made by Baarah MP Ibrahim Shujau, alleging that Tourism Minister Mohamed Ameen requested him to deliver a message to former President Abdulla Yameen, have been exposed as false.

Speaking at the most recent PNC rally, MP Shujau stated that three cabinet ministers had contacted him requesting to convey messages to former President Yameen. Among them, Tourism Minister Ameen reportedly reached out, asking Shujau to inform President Yameen that preparations have been finalized to bring the second wide-body aircraft to the Maldives.

When questioned about the matter during Thursday's press conference, Minister Ameen initially stated that he had not instructed anyone to convey a message to any individual through a third party.

Minister Ameen stated that the press conference was organized to share information regarding several significant initiatives currently being undertaken by the Ministry of Tourism. He further noted that he was attending the briefing in his official capacity as the Minister of Tourism, and characterized the journalist's inquiry as a personal question.

However, when the journalist repeated the question, Minister Ameen responded that regardless of who made the statement, it remains a valid point. He emphasized that the acquisition of wide-body aircraft by the national airline is a milestone that the country should take pride in.

Highlighting this point, Minister Ameen repeatedly stated that he has no need to convey messages through any third party. He further noted that it is now up to journalists to analyze the matter further.
