President Muizzu is not an individual who would resign of his own volition; if he could extend his term in power, he would certainly seek to do so: Raee

Former Member of Parliament for the Makunudhoo constituency, Mohamed Raee, has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is not an individual who would voluntarily resign from office, suggesting that the President would instead seek to extend his tenure if given the opportunity.
Speaking at the MDP National Congress meeting on Monday night, Raee noted that President Muizzu is facing an unprecedented level of public criticism, more than any other president in Maldivian history. Raee stated that despite this backlash, President Muizzu remains indifferent to the public's concerns. He further alleged that the President continues to appear in public the following day to propagate even greater falsehoods.
The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is now the sole beacon of hope for the people, stated Raee, emphasizing that all citizens must unite with the party to change the country's current trajectory. He further noted that this goal cannot be achieved by the efforts of the MDP National Congress members alone.
We observed that a payment of 40 million Rufiyaa was owed to Liverpool Football Club just three days after Yasir was appointed as the Managing Director of Visit Maldives. We still do not know the exact amount owed to India’s Katrina Kaif, as no invoice has been received yet—I am simply stating the facts. Furthermore, I am unsure how many press conferences our party has held, how many statements have been issued, or how many of our leaders have spoken out on this matter.Mohamed Raee
Raee also called for an expansion of the ongoing protests led by the MDP, asserting that this is the only way to bring the Maldives back on the right track. He further stated that President Muizzu is not someone who would resign voluntarily, noting that the President would likely seek to extend his hold on power if given the opportunity.
