Former President Abdulla Yameen has alleged that the Rehendhi flat acquired by Speaker of the People’s Majlis, Abdul Raheem Abdulla, was obtained in exchange for facilitating a land plot in Hulhumale' for a prominent businessman.
Speaking at a gathering of the People's National Front (PNF), former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom alleged that Abdul Raheem Abdulla was the individual who most extensively sought illicit gains during his administration. President Yameen claimed that the apartment Abdul Raheem acquired at the Rehendhi Flats was obtained by exploiting the President's name. Specifically, Yameen detailed that the flat was given to Abdul Raheem by a Male' businessman as a kickback. This was reportedly in exchange for Abdul Raheem facilitating the acquisition of a plot of land in Hulhumale' for the businessman.
President Yameen also stated that Abdul Raheem would be well aware that he is privy to the manner in which the funds were obtained to purchase that flat.

Furthermore, President Yameen has alleged that during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's tenure as Mayor, he allocated stalls at the Male' Market to Abdul Raheem at prices below market value.
Furthermore, during Muizzu’s tenure as Mayor, he collaborated with Abdul Raheem to bypass the standard bidding process. Despite other applicants offering significantly better terms, Muizzu granted a contract to Abdul Raheem at a much lower value simply because he requested it.
