Former President Abdulla Yameen has stated that senior officials within the People's National Congress (PNC) are aware that the incumbent President, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, will not secure a second term, further claiming that a "revolution" is currently unfolding within the government's cabinet.

President Yameen made these remarks while speaking at a PNF rally held on Sunday night. In a previous gathering, he had also stated that a "silent revolution" was unfolding within the People's Majlis.

PNC members of parliament, senior government officials, and Speaker of the People’s Majlis Abdul Raheem Abdulla have hit back at President Yameen’s recent remarks. Speaking at a PNC gathering, Abdul Raheem asserted that President Yameen would be unable to exert any influence within the parliament and suggested that he should instead take up fishing.

Speaking at a PNF rally, former President Yameen stated that while he had previously warned of a "silent coup" unfolding within the People’s Majlis, this movement is not confined to the legislature alone. He noted that the same sentiment exists within the Cabinet, asserting that government officials are well aware that they cannot secure victory in the 2028 presidential election with President Muizzu as their candidate.

Highlighting the issue, President Yameen stated that current developments are unfolding amidst heightening tensions. He further asserted that the recent changes to President Muizzu’s cabinet were triggered by remarks made by certain ministers during informal coffee table conversations.

That is indeed the truth. The subsequent changes to the cabinet occurred because conversations held by some ministers around a coffee table were leaked. Therefore, these individuals are well aware of the true nature of the person they are dealing with.

Furthermore, President Yameen asserted that it is these very individuals who are claiming that progress has stalled across all sectors and that the government has lost public support. He remarked that while Abdul Raheem is making such statements today, he had remained sidelined and uninvolved throughout the preceding period. President Yameen further noted that regardless of Abdul Raheem’s current efforts to defend the government and President Muizzu, the relationship between the two remains strained.

Referring to Abdul Raheem’s statement that the PNC members of Parliament are "tied together like a bundle of firewood," President Yameen asserted that such remarks were an insult to the lawmakers. President Yameen noted that the comment implies the PNC members are effectively bound, a point he emphasized he has been making consistently.

Senior officials of the People's National Congress (PNC) and close aides of President Muizzu have launched a strong counter-attack against former President Yameen, following several critical remarks he made regarding the current administration.
