President Muizzu is attempting to govern by empowering "thieves" in all state affairs: Yameen

Former President Abdulla Yameen has criticized President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, alleging that his administration is governed by empowering corrupt individuals and describing the current government as a "major regime of theft."

Attending the most recent rally held by the PNF, former President Yameen sharply criticized the policies of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. Highlighting a decline in public support for the administration, Yameen asserted that the current public sentiment has been made clear through recent referendums and the reception the President receives during his travels across the country.

Referring to the current administration's corruption, Yameen stated that this government empowers "thieves" to conduct its affairs, describing it as an indelible stain on the administration's legacy. He further questioned why the government lacks the courage to investigate the reality behind how tenders are being awarded.

Furthermore, Yameen stated that the country's educated and intellectual community is increasingly expressing dissatisfaction with several senior officials of the current administration.

The educated and well-informed citizens of this country are speaking out. They are saying that as long as you are surrounded by people like Bote, Abdul Raheem, and their ilk, you have no reason to approach them. They are making it clear that you have nothing of substance to offer or explain to them. The majority of our citizens are well-aware and politically conscious. Consequently, it appears that only those who could be described as "grand thieves" are associating with individuals of this caliber. This government seems to prefer empowering such figures to manage all its affairs. It is evident that they are incapable of operating in any other manner.

Abdulla Yameen

Speaking on state expenditure, Yameen criticized the government's fiscal management, specifically highlighting the continuous rise in recurrent spending.

Referring to the Privatization and Corporatization Board’s (PCB) directive to reduce state-owned enterprise (SOE) staff by 33 percent, Yameen stated that the government had initially hired these employees solely to secure votes.

However, Yameen stated that President Muizzu is now turning a blind eye to the situation by shifting the entire responsibility onto the Ministry of Finance. He further noted that reducing the workforce by one-third is a burden the public cannot endure, asserting that the current administration is inflicting all its hardships and misfortunes upon ordinary citizens.
