Have given my statement to Police: MP Azim

Central Henveyru Constituency MP Ali Azim has given his statement to Maldives Police Service (MPS).

Speaking to press afterwards, MP Azim said that he was accused to obstructing an officer of the law. He said the accusation was made in connection to the scuffle that occurred after officers of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) was led into Parliament floor.

MP Azim said that he had answered the questions posed by Police and signed the statement. Azim further noted that Police had said they will contact him if any follow up questions arises.

The Parliamentarian was summoned to Police at noon on Thursday.

Several opposition MPs are currently either under investigation or on trial or sentenced on various charges.
