President Muizzu's current efforts are aimed at steering the Maldives towards communism: Maaz Saleem

MDP National Congress member Ahmed Saleem (Maaz Saleem) has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s current efforts are steering the Maldives toward communism.

In an interview with RaajjeTV, Maaz Saleem stated that the Maldives is currently heading toward communism. He further noted that stringent legislative amendments are being introduced to transform the country into a communist state.

The Maldives is heading towards communism. Drastic and sudden legislative changes are being implemented to facilitate this transition. The state is seizing all lands and taking over resorts. What we are witnessing is President Muizzu’s deliberate effort to transform this nation into a communist state.

Maaz Saleem noted that Maldivian youth face immense challenges in securing employment. He stated that it is a violation of employees' rights when those in leadership positions coerce young workers into performing illegal acts and then force them to bear the legal responsibility for those actions. Furthermore, Saleem alleged that these tactics are part of President Muizzu's campaign to secure 200,000 signatures for the PNC before the 2028 elections.

Maaz Saleem stated that government institutions are unfairly dismissing employees as part of this ongoing campaign.

Noting that a case has been filed with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) regarding Home Minister Ali Ihusaan’s alleged use of the Department of National Registration (DNR) database to register members for the PNC, Maaz Saleem stated that the matter is not being investigated in accordance with the law. He asserted that had the case been properly investigated, Ihusaan would no longer be in office, as such actions constitute a punishable offense under the law.

Maaz Saleem stated that although 27 cases have been submitted to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to date, the institution has failed to investigate any of them. He further noted that had these matters been properly probed and investigated, the country's situation would not have deteriorated to its current state.

Maaz Saleem on Sunday filed a formal complaint with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), alleging that employees of state-owned enterprises are being coerced into joining the main ruling party, PNC, through threats of dismissal. In his submission, Saleem urged the ACC to immediately investigate these alleged criminal acts and take necessary legal action.
