Shahid is the most capable leader to save the nation and ensure prosperity: Ahmed Abdulla

Former MDP Deputy Chairperson and former Ihavandhoo MP Ahmed Abdulla has stated that Abdulla Shahid is the most capable leader to rescue the Maldives from its current economic downturn and ensure prosperity and self-sufficiency for its citizens.

He made these remarks while speaking at the "Shahid 2028" rally held in Kulhudhuffushi City on Saturday night.

Abdulla stated that the presidential primary campaign has gained significant momentum and energy as it progressed from Addu City to Kulhudhuffushi City. He further noted that educated professionals and experts from various sectors across the country are joining Shahid’s team, highlighting that the campaign is moving forward at a rapid pace.

Reflecting on the current state of the country, Abdulla emphasized the urgent need to rescue the public from the hardships caused by the current administration's tyranny and to pull the nation out of its deepening economic abyss. He stated that it was this sense of national duty that led him to resign as the Deputy Chairperson of the MDP to join Abdulla Shahid’s campaign, asserting that he has no intention of taking a single step back in this endeavor.

We are looking at a leader who has demonstrated practical results. During his tenure as the President of the United Nations General Assembly, he set a benchmark for the entire Maldives and achieved proud milestones. His leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was marked by the same level of excellence. Furthermore, as Speaker of the People’s Majlis, he proved his ability to deliver results by working collaboratively with individuals of diverse political ideologies.

He further stated that Shahid is the only leader capable of moving forward inclusively by engaging in consultations with both supporters and opponents alike, adding that the Maldives could not find a better path forward.

Reflecting on the current state of the nation, he further stated that while President Muizzu has spent three years governing as a "learner," the foundations laid have crumbled, the pillars erected have rusted, and the country’s entire system has collapsed, leaving the lives of citizens in total disarray. Consequently, Abdulla urged the public to make use of a capable leader—whom he described as a "gem" for the Maldives—and called on them to grant Shahid the opportunity in the upcoming MDP presidential primary.
