Approximately 2,000 additional healthcare workers to be recruited this year

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that approximately 2,000 employees will be recruited into the healthcare sector this year.

President Muizzu made these remarks during the "Rayyithunge Adu" program, where he meets individually with citizens, after listening to the concerns raised by a healthcare professional.

He expressed concern over the challenges facing Hulhumale' Hospital in catering to a rapidly growing population, noting the increasing difficulties in providing services to such a large number of people.

Responding to these concerns, President Muizzu stated that efforts have already been commissioned to establish additional General Practice (GP) clinics in both Phase 1 and Phase 2 of Hulhumale'. He further noted that the government has decided to limit new recruitment for the remainder of this year exclusively to the healthcare sector.

We have officially decided to add nearly 2,000 additional staff members to the health sector across the entire country. These recruitments are being carried out in phases, and the current hiring process naturally includes positions for the Male' Group of Hospitals.

President Muizzu stated that while it may take approximately six months to fully resolve the concerns raised by the healthcare worker, the process of recruiting additional staff will be completed much sooner.

Furthermore, he informed the President that despite sharing concerns last December regarding the challenges faced due to staff shortages, no solution has been provided to date.
