President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the Sinamalé Bridge is not merely an infrastructure project showcasing the Maldives' development, but a symbol of the enduring friendship between the Maldives and China.
On the occasion of the 8th anniversary of the Sinamalé Bridge, President Muizzu stated in a post on X that the bridge is a project that symbolizes the trust, unity, and shared aspirations between the Maldives and China.
President Muizzu expressed his confidence that the relationship between the two nations will be further strengthened under Chinese President Xi Jinping, paving the way for enhanced future opportunities for both countries. To mark the occasion, President Muizzu visited the bridge area.
Officially inaugurated on August 30, 2018, the Sinamalé Bridge is a major 1.39-kilometer infrastructure project connecting the capital city, Malé, with Hulhumalé and Hulhulé. The project was completed with a total investment of $200 million.
