Minister of Economic Development, Transport, and Trade Mohamed Saeed has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is the individual who holds the greatest affection and concern for former President Abdulla Yameen.
During a press conference held at the President's Office on Thursday, a RaajjeTV journalist questioned Minister Saeed regarding his recent remarks concerning the Sinamalé Bridge project. The reporter specifically inquired whether former President Yameen had played any role in the development of the project.
In response to this question, Minister Saeed stated that the greatest credit for the Sinamalé Bridge project belongs to Yameen, and emphasized that he maintains the utmost respect for the former president.
Minister Saeed stated that President Muizzu is the individual former President Yameen holds in the highest regard and cares for most deeply, noting that he is someone Yameen would always wish to have by his side. The Minister further emphasized that President Muizzu harbors no ill will or resentment toward Yameen.
Furthermore, Minister Saeed stated that a few individuals close to Yameen are conducting themselves in an unseemly manner, adding that Yameen himself would likely not accept the claims they are making.
"No, not at all; President Yameen deserves immense credit. He is a very thoughtful and visionary leader. My previous comments were once again taken out of context. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has always held, and will continue to hold, the utmost respect for President Yameen in his heart. That will never change. President Muizzu is one of the individuals who cares most deeply for President Yameen and wishes to stand by his side. Therefore, despite what Raajje TV might suggest, I do not believe for a moment that President Muizzu harbors any ill will toward President Yameen. We are all one team. What I was pointing out is that the Housing and Infrastructure Minister at the time was Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The bridge project was carried out under his direct supervision. At the same time, I was serving as the Economic Minister. I was simply stating it in those terms—that the two of us were right there involved in it. It is simply that one or two individuals from that original group are not with us at this moment."Minister of Economic Development, Transport and Trade, Mohamed Saeed
Highlighting that the People's National Congress (PNC) now boasts 70,000 members, Minister Saeed stated that the growing public support for the party's ideology is driven by clear objectives. He further noted that the party has set a positive example through its leadership across two terms in government.
