RaajjeTV has sent a formal letter to Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed, requesting a serious investigation into reports that a group of individuals is plotting an attack on the station’s Broadcast Visual Director, Amir Saleem. The media outlet stated that it received information regarding the threat from a reliable source.
RaajjeTV obtained this information on August 25, 2026.
After RaajjeTV obtained this information, an account on the social media platform 'X' operating under the name "Hassan Kurusee" also shared a similar post accompanied by a photograph.
According to the post, the ruling PNC has allegedly bribed individuals to carry out attacks against Amir Saleem and MDP Member of Parliament Mohamed Ibrahim (Kudu). While the specific motive behind the planned attacks remains unclear, both Amir and Kudu have been alerted to the potential threat.
Furthermore, a case involving previous death threats against Amir Saleem has already been reported to the police. Specifically, following the decision to conduct a closed-door committee meeting to review the "Media Control Bill" on September 9, 2025, journalists staged a protest. During this period, a Facebook account under the name "Ruksha Razzaq" posted Amir’s photograph alongside a threat stating that he should be given the death penalty.

However, 11 months after the case was initially reported and without providing any prior updates, the police informed Amir on August 24, 2026, that the case had been filed. The authorities cited their inability to obtain the necessary information from Facebook as the reason for closing the investigation.
RaajjeTV has expressed profound concern over reports that further attacks are being planned against Amir, just one day after police informed him that the investigation into previous death threats against him had been filed.
In a letter addressed to the police, RaajjeTV emphasized that such threats must be treated with the utmost seriousness. The station highlighted a history of politically motivated attacks, including a previous arson attack that caused extensive damage to the premises and physical assaults on its staff.
Consequently, RaajjeTV has requested the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter to ensure Amir Saleem’s safety and provide him with the necessary protection. Screenshots of the social media posts on X related to the threats have also been shared with the authorities.
Amir plays a pivotal role in holding the government accountable and highlighting public grievances through RaajjeTV programs such as "Fashaairu," "Haalu Kihineh?" and "TV Talk." He is actively engaged in seeking solutions to public concerns by contacting various state institutions directly to demand answers and address the issues facing the citizens.
