President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has officially inaugurated "Vaahaka Vau," a historical site developed near the Kanduvalu Mosque in HA. Utheemu.
The President's Office has revealed that "Vaahaka Vau," developed within the natural woods adjacent to the historic Kanduvalu Mosque in Utheemu, is a park designed as a walk through history. The site features descriptive boards that narrate the story of Bodu Thakurufaanu’s struggle for independence, offering visitors an immersive experience of the historic jihad.
As visitors walk through the pathways of the "Vaahaka Valu", they will experience a curated journey through the key milestones of Boduthakurufaanu’s national struggle, depicted amidst the lush foliage. The narrative begins with the occupation of Malé in 1558, follows the construction of the Kalhu-oh-fummi in Ha. Baarah, and concludes with the historic victory achieved in 1573. The government stated that the park is designed to offer a unique blend of artistic craftsmanship, natural beauty, and historical immersion in a single location.
The President's Office stated that the primary objectives of this project, spearheaded by the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage, are to preserve and maintain the legacy of Ghazi Bandaraian, generate revenue through heritage sites, and establish Utheemu as a prominent hub for cultural tourism and national history.
