Muizzu: National Day Resolution Must Promote Civil Values and National Unity

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has called for the cultivation of civilized values and the strengthening of national unity within society.
Speaking at the official ceremony marking National Day, President Muizzu emphasized the importance of resolving to instill strong moral values within the nation. The President further stated that it is vital for the Maldivian people to commit to fostering a society rooted in mutual respect for one another in every sense.
He further stated that by extending the care, dignity, and respect mandated by Islam toward one's neighbors, the sense of estrangement within the community would vanish, transforming the living environment into a place of harmony and contentment.
Highlighting that National Day encourages the restoration of the noble moral values once held by Maldivians and seeks to bring peace to hearts through the national spirit, President Muizzu stated that the people must remain united with a single purpose and distance themselves from divisions.
Furthermore, President Muizzu appealed to all citizens to work in the national interest and with a spirit of patriotism.
National Day inspires us to restore the noble values and exemplary character that once defined the Maldivian people. It teaches us to find inner peace through a sense of national identity and a shared patriotic spirit. Despite President Muizzu’s remarks, he has declined an invitation to engage in dialogue with three former presidents—Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Mohamed Nasheed, and Abdulla Yameen. The call for consultation comes amid a sharp decline in the nation's economic and social conditions, which has led to escalating public concern.
Despite President Muizzu’s calls to prioritize national interest and unity, the current administration has yet to take any meaningful action to foster public cohesion. Furthermore, the government continues to obstruct and use force against every peaceful protest where citizens take to the streets to voice their concerns.
