Resolution against staff dismissals leaves Ibrahim Mohamed "unsettled," claims it is a waste of time

Ibrahim Mohamed, a member of the ruling People's National Congress (PNC), has strongly criticized and mocked a resolution submitted to Parliament by the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), which alleges that the current administration is unfairly dismissing a large number of employees from their jobs.

Ibrahim Mohamed, the Member of Parliament for the North Machangolhi constituency, has dismissed the resolution submitted by the MDP as a "baseless" motion lacking any foundation. He characterized the move as a politically motivated attempt to level false and fabricated allegations against the government.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Ibrahim Mohamed stated that submitting such baseless resolutions serves no purpose other than wasting the Parliament's valuable time. He further noted that, for this reason, he would not be supporting the resolution in any capacity.

This resolution is baseless and has been submitted solely to level false accusations against the government. Such resolutions serve no purpose other than wasting valuable time; therefore, I do not support them.

Furthermore, Ibrahim Mohamed stated that the resolution was a desperate political move by the MDP, born out of a lack of direction. He sharply criticized the opposition, asserting that the Maldives currently lacks a responsible political party.

Noting that political dismissals also occurred during the MDP administration, Ibrahim Mohamed stated that the resolution was submitted without any factual basis and was merely an attempt to mislead the public. During the debate stage, other members of the government coalition also spoke out against the resolution.
