Member of Parliament Ahmed Shakir has accused the Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Dr. Abdulla Muththalib, of providing misleading answers when questioned in Parliament regarding issues affecting the public.
During an appearance on RaajjeTV’s "TV Talk" program, MP Shakir sharply criticized Housing Minister Muththalib regarding the answers he provided during the parliamentary session on the 13th of this month. The lawmaker accused the Minister of evading direct questions from members and instead providing misleading information to obscure the facts.
The member stated that Minister Muththalib failed to address the question regarding the development of the Ring Road and had significantly misrepresented the facts in his response.
The remarks have been twisted. The point being made was that while the road has been widened, numerous speedboats are constantly arriving in the surrounding area. We are addressing the difficulties these operators face. What is the actual management solution provided by this road project? It is deeply regrettable when public projects are implemented in a way that inconveniences the people, forcing the elderly to run while carrying heavy luggage on their shoulders. Development should be carried out in a manner that facilitates ease for the citizens. While widening the road is a positive step in itself, the issue lies with the narrowing of the adjacent exterior section. When we question what happens to the arriving speedboats due to this narrowing, the matter is simply twisted.Ahmed Shakir.
MP Shakir stated that development projects must provide ease and convenience to the public. However, he emphasized that he would continue to speak out and raise questions if any project causes undue hardship to the citizens.
