President Muizzu establishes new state-owned enterprise, "Addu Hankede Development Corporation Limited"
The government has established a new corporation to develop Addu Hankede under an integrated tourism model, aimed at expanding the tourism sector within the atoll. The primary objective of this company is to ensure that the benefits of tourism are equitably distributed among the residents of Addu while strategically executing initiatives to achieve the government’s broader economic goals.

The government has established a new state-owned enterprise named the "Addu Hankede Development Corporation Limited."
The establishment of the company was announced on Thursday via Presidential Decree No. 12/2024, published in the Government Gazette.
The President's Office stated that the primary objective of establishing Addu Hankede Development Corporation Limited is to develop "Addu Atoll Hankede" under an integrated tourism development model.
This initiative aims to expand the tourism industry in Addu Atoll and ensure its benefits are distributed equitably across the region. Furthermore, the corporation is tasked with strategically managing all efforts to increase local participation in the tourism sector and achieve the government's designated economic goals for this project.
