Dr. Ahmed Shamheed, the Member of Parliament for the South Hulhumalé constituency, has stated that all documentation related to the Public Accounts Committee's ongoing investigation into corruption within state-owned enterprises has gone missing at a certain point.
Speaking at a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee held to review a special audit report on Fenaka Corporation’s branches and projects in Addu City, Shamheed stated that corrupt individuals remain active within the system. He emphasized that the committee's responsibility extends beyond investigating the actions of previous administrations.
MP Shamheed stated that the public will not see any real benefits unless the current trajectory of events is halted. He noted that convictions have not been secured against even one percent of those accused of corruption in the Maldives. Shamheed further highlighted that the state has failed to recover any funds involved in such cases.

Shamheed noted that if the committee acted in good faith, it would be working to stop the acts of corruption that continue to persist even today.
However, Shamheed stated that midway through the committee's efforts, all the relevant documents went missing, noting that this remains a matter of serious concern.
