Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has provided full assurance that the government will prioritize increasing investment in the dental care sector to expand services, enhance quality, and ensure easy accessibility for all citizens.
The Vice President gave this assurance while speaking at a ceremony held at Hotel Jen last night to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of government-provided dental services.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice President urged professionals in the field to strive toward making the coming years a period of innovation and advancement, ensuring the delivery of modern, high-quality dental services to the public.
In his remarks, the Vice President expressed his gratitude and appreciation to both long-serving veterans and current professionals in the field of dentistry. He specifically highlighted the contributions of Mohamed Saleem, noting that his 50 years of uninterrupted service to the healthcare sector serves as an exemplary model for all. The Vice President further described Saleem’s dedication as an invaluable legacy that will forever be etched in the history of the Maldivian health sector.
Continuing his remarks, the Vice President expressed great pride in the fact that Maldivian specialists are now serving in various specialized fields of dentistry. He emphasized that one of the government’s primary objectives is to ensure that high-quality dental care is accessible across the atolls, rather than remaining services that are solely concentrated in Malé. He further noted that efforts to achieve this goal are currently proceeding at a rapid pace.
The Vice President concluded his remarks by expressing his renewed hope that the Maldives' dental services would become a benchmark for high-quality care within the entire region.
The ceremony featured the launch of a book titled "Ihun Miadhai Hamayah" (From the Past to the Present), which chronicles the history of the government’s dental department. During the event, Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef presented awards to pioneering Maldivian staff who introduced various dental specialties, as well as to those instrumental in establishing dental services in the Maldives.
