Current administration fails to complete remaining five percent of water and sewerage project in Molhadhoo
Former Member of Parliament for the Ihavandhoo constituency, Mohamed Shifau, has stated that the Molhadhoo water and sewerage project has come to a standstill following the change in administration, despite 95 percent of the work being completed. Highlighting a broader halt in developmental projects within the constituency under the current government, Shifau noted that the failure to complete the remaining minor portion of the project has caused significant hardship for residents. He characterized the suspension of the project, which was contracted to Flexinc Private Limited, as a major setback and a disservice to the island's community.

As President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration surpasses the two-year mark, it has come to light that the remaining five percent of the water and sewerage project in HA. Molhadhoo remains stalled.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Vaudhunaama" program, former Ihavandhoo MP Mohamed Shifau stated that development projects in his constituency have come to a standstill under President Dr. Muizzu’s administration.
Referring to Molhadhoo, Shifau stated that the island's residents are enduring the greatest hardship and neglect under the current administration.
He stated that while all development projects on the island have come to a standstill, 95 percent of the water and sewerage project initiated during former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration had already been completed. However, Shifau noted that the project stalled following the change in government and remains at a halt to this day.
Shifau stated that this situation has caused significant hardship for the public. He noted that citizens who have been waiting in hope for water and sanitation services are still only seeing the ends of water taps and sewage pipes.
In reality, the residents of HA. Molhadhoo have endured the greatest misfortune and neglect under Dr. Muizzu’s administration. I highlight this because, as I mentioned previously, 95 percent of the water and sewerage project had already been completed by the time Dr. Muizzu took office. By my count, it has been approximately 950 days since President Muizzu assumed power. Yet, the remaining five percent of the work still remains unfinished.Mohamed Shafiú, the former Member of Parliament for the Ihavandhoo constituency.
The project was awarded to Flexinc Private Limited on February 28, 2021, for a total value of MVR 35.8 million.
