The People's National Congress (PNC) has decided to expedite its national congress following a proposal by President Muizzu during a party council meeting held Tuesday night. However, a specific date for the event has not yet been disclosed. The party stated that the exact date for the congress will be announced at a later time.
The PNC congress is scheduled to be held in October of this year.
In a social media post on Tuesday night, Baarashu MP Ibrahim Shujaau announced that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu put forward a proposal during a meeting held that evening. According to available information, President Muizzu proposed to expedite the party's national congress.
According to Shujau's post, a proposal by President Muizzu has been unanimously approved by the PNC parliamentary group.

Changes are expected to be made to several senior leadership positions within the People’s National Congress (PNC) during its upcoming congress. Internal friction within the party recently led to the removal of Ahmed Nazim—the Deputy Speaker of Parliament and a first cousin of President Muizzu who had been among his closest aides since the administration's inception—from his post. A senior PNC official stated that President Muizzu decided to expedite the congress, originally scheduled for October, after observing a decline in his internal support base within the party.
