Thinadhoo development at standstill; airport project revised three times: ex-MP Saneef
Saneef has strongly criticized the current administration, alleging that President Muizzu has failed to fulfill his developmental pledges for Thinadhoo City. Saneef specifically highlighted that the Thinadhoo airport project has undergone three revisions and noted that critical initiatives launched by the previous government, such as the industrial zone and cold storage facility, have come to a standstill. He further expressed his disillusionment, stating there is no longer any hope that this administration will bring further development to Thinadhoo.

Former Member of Parliament for South Thinadhoo, Abdulla Saneef, has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has failed to fulfill any of the pledges made to Thinadhoo City thus far, noting that the airport project alone has been revised three times.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Vaudhunaama" program, Saneef stated that President Muizzu had made numerous pledges for the development of Thinadhoo City. However, Saneef noted that as the administration approaches its two-and-a-half-year mark, not a single project has moved forward.
Referring to the Thinadhoo airport project, Saneef noted that the agreement was signed in the presence of the island's residents, fostering significant public expectations. However, he pointed out that the agreement has since been terminated and the project has undergone three different revisions. He further stated that there is currently no hope that the airport will be developed alongside 12 resorts as previously promised.
To be perfectly honest, the President has failed to fulfill any of the pledges made to Thinadhoo. There are several key issues I must highlight. During his initial presidential campaign, the President promised to develop the Kaadedhdhoo Airport into an international gateway specifically linked to Thinadhoo. This was one of the most significant commitments made to the island. Furthermore, the President pledged to upgrade the Thinadhoo hospital, complete the construction of the island's roads, and finalize all ongoing projects initiated by the previous administration that remained unfinished when President Muizzu took office. These were all explicit promises made by the President.Abdulla Saneef, the former Member of Parliament for South Thinadhoo constituency.
Furthermore, Saneef expressed concern over the stalled progress of the industrial zone project in Thinadhoo.
I would like to specifically highlight the Thinadhoo Industrial Zone project. This initiative was designed to integrate international port operations with a main pipeline for the island's gas facility. The project also included the establishment of a fish cold storage facility on reclaimed land, for which all necessary equipment had been procured and foundation-level construction had already commenced. However, it is with great regret that I note that two and a half years later, this project remains stalled with no further progress made to date.Abdulla Saneef, the former Member of Parliament for South Thinadhoo constituency.
Saneef stated that he no longer expects the city to see further development under the current administration. He also criticized the government for the suspension of projects initiated by the previous administration. Furthermore, he remarked that the public is now aware that President Muizzu is not a leader who fulfills his promises.
