The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the Maldives recognizes Taiwan as an inseparable part of Chinese territory.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Maldives reaffirmed its recognition of the Government of the People’s Republic of China as the sole legal government of China. The Ministry further emphasized that this remains a long-standing policy maintained by the Maldives since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the Maldives recognizes Taiwan as an inseparable part of China's territory, in accordance with United Nations General Assembly resolutions and international legal principles. The government further assured that it remains steadfast in this position, despite the various challenges facing the global community.
Furthermore, the statement emphasized that the Maldivian government remains fully committed to further strengthening the long-standing and robust ties with China. It also noted that the government deeply appreciates China's ongoing contributions to the social and economic development of the Maldives.
The government further stated that the relationship between the two nations will continue to be built upon regional stability, peace, and mutual benefit. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs added in its statement that it looks forward to elevating the bilateral ties to new heights.
