The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has issued a fresh warning against 21 different types of medication, including products marketed for weight loss, hair strengthening, and the treatment of sexual dysfunction, among other conditions.
The unauthorized importation and sale of pharmaceuticals has become a significant issue in the Maldives recently. Various medications are also being increasingly marketed and sold through online platforms.
Regarding this matter, the Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) stated that under the Medicines Regulation and the Health Services Act, pharmaceuticals may only be imported into the Maldives by entities registered with the authority as importers. Furthermore, all imported medications must be registered in accordance with established protocols and included on the approved drug list.
