General members want a unifying Chairperson for the 2028 presidential election: Meekail
During his campaign visits to the atolls, MDP chairperson candidate Meekail Ahmed Naseem highlighted that general members are seeking a unifying leader capable of securing victory in the 2028 election. While listening to the concerns of the people during his travels, Meekail expressed confidence in receiving significant support from Faafu and Dhaalu Atolls. Additionally, the official launch of his manifesto is scheduled to take place this Thursday night at Artificial Beach.

Member of Parliament for South Galolhu, Meekail Ahmed Naseem, who is contesting for the position of MDP Chairperson, has stated that for the 2028 elections, the party's general membership desires a leader who will foster unity and ensure equal opportunities for all within the party.
Speaking to RaajjeTV following his visit to several islands in Faafu and Dhaalu Atoll as part of an ongoing nationwide tour, Meekail stated that during his meetings with numerous general members of the MDP, there was a unanimous consensus: the party seeks a chairperson capable of securing victory for the MDP in 2028.
Meekail stated that the general membership of the MDP desires a chairperson who provides a firm guarantee of their long-term commitment to the party. He further noted that regardless of the election outcome, members are expressing concerns over the rising cost of living and lack of access to essential services, while highlighting that press freedom is being systematically dismantled.
Meekail stated that the general members of the MDP are reflecting on how the nation has fallen into its current state. He noted that the bitter memories of 2023 have not yet faded from the hearts of the party's grassroots members.
Meekail stated that for 2028, the general membership of the MDP desires a Chairperson who can lead with unity and restructure the party to ensure equal opportunities for all members.
Meekail stated that he has no doubt this vote of confidence will secure a significant majority from Faafu and Dhaalu Atolls. He expressed confidence that, God willing, both atolls will cast their votes in favor of the motion.
Meekail further stated that the manifesto, which incorporates proposals submitted by MDP’s general members, will be launched this Thursday. He extended an invitation to as many people as possible to attend the event, scheduled for 8:30 p.m. at Artificial Beach.
