Government declares May 24 and 25 as public holidays
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has declared June 24 and 25 as public holidays in observance of Eid al-Adha, extending the break to a continuous nine-day period from June 22 to June 30 to allow employees more time with their families. Government offices are scheduled to resume official operations on Sunday, June 31.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Wednesday declared Sunday, May 24, and Monday, May 25, as public holidays.
With this decision, government employees will receive an extended holiday for the Eid break.
In an announcement issued by the President's Office, it was stated that these two days have been declared government holidays in connection with the Eid al-Adha break. The primary objective of this decision is to provide employees with the opportunity to spend as much time as possible with their families during the festivities and to ensure they receive an uninterrupted holiday period.
Following this decision, government offices will remain closed from Friday, June 22, through June 30. According to the calendar, Eid al-Adha falls on Wednesday, June 27, this year.
According to the President's Office announcement, government offices are scheduled to reopen on Sunday, May 31, following the Eid holidays.
