PNC decides to remove Nazim from Deputy Speaker post
The People's National Congress (PNC) has begun gathering signatures for a no-confidence motion against Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ahmed Nazim, following his removal from official WhatsApp groups involving the President and the parliamentary group. This move follows Nazim's recent dismissal from several key parliamentary committees; however, the ruling party has yet to officially disclose the reasons behind these disciplinary actions.

The parliamentary group of the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) on Wednesday decided to remove the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Dhiggaru MP Ahmed Nazim, from his post.
This decision was reached during a meeting of the party's parliamentary group held at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday.
According to reports, the People's National Congress (PNC) parliamentary group has decided to submit a no-confidence motion to remove Nazim from his post. Efforts are already underway to collect the necessary signatures to formally table the motion in Parliament. Under the parliamentary rules of procedure, a motion to remove the Deputy Speaker requires the signatures of at least 24 members. The ruling PNC, which holds a supermajority in Parliament, currently has 75 members.
The PNC Parliamentary Group's decision to remove Nazim from his post comes just hours after President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu removed him from a WhatsApp group used to provide instructions to members. The President removed Nazim from the group at approximately 6:00 a.m. today. However, neither the party nor the PNC Parliamentary Group has officially disclosed the reason for his removal from the group or the grounds for the move to dismiss him from his position as Vice President.
As disciplinary proceedings against Nazim begin, she was removed last month from the Parliament’s two most influential committees: the Public Accounts Committee and the Security Services Committee (241 Committee). Furthermore, she has now been expelled from the People’s National Congress (PNC) parliamentary group’s WhatsApp communication channel.
Rumors regarding Nazim’s potential removal from his post had previously surfaced following the PNC’s recent setbacks in local council elections and public referendums. Although Parliamentary Group Leader Ibrahim Falah denied those reports at the time, efforts to obtain an official comment from the PNC regarding today’s decision have so far been unsuccessful.
