Deputy Speaker of the Parliament and MP for the Dhiggaru constituency, Ahmed Nazim, has been removed from a WhatsApp group of the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC).
Nazim’s removal from the WhatsApp group used for internal communications among PNC members of parliament follows his recent dismissal from two of the Majlis’s most influential committees: the Public Accounts Committee and the Committee on National Security Services (241 Committee).
However, the exact reason for his removal from the WhatsApp group remains unclear.
Rumors have recently circulated that the Maldives Police Service has compiled an intelligence report concerning Nazim. Some news outlets have further reported that these claims have been confirmed. However, the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, has denied these allegations.
