No meeting with President Solih; discussions held via phone: Nasheed
Former President Nasheed stated that although President Solih arrived in India on Friday, the two did not meet in person, though he confirmed they spoke over the phone.

Former President Mohamed Nasheed has stated that while he did not meet with former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih during his recent visit to India, the two leaders did speak over the phone.
President Nasheed made these remarks while speaking to the media upon his return to the Maldives following an official visit to India.
President Nasheed arrived in India last Wednesday to participate in the 10th Indian Ocean Dialogue (IOD) held in New Delhi. Following this, President Solih also traveled to India on Friday for an official visit.
President Nasheed stated that although President Solih arrived in India on Friday, the two leaders did not meet in person. However, Nasheed confirmed that they spoke via telephone. President Nasheed did not disclose any specific details regarding the conversation held during the phone call.
Furthermore, President Nasheed stated that his campaign for the upcoming MDP chairperson election is progressing very well. President Nasheed’s visit to India took place while he was actively engaged in the chairperson election campaign. Although his campaign activities saw a brief lull due to the trip, they are set to resume in the coming days.
The most recent meeting between President Solih and President Nasheed took place on December 24 last year. This marked the first formal meeting between the two leaders since the MDP administration concluded in 2023. President Nasheed and President Solih have shared a close personal friendship since their early years.
