Inability of MPs to freely express people's concerns is the fundamental reason behind this government's failure: Ziyad
During the debate on the proposed amendment to the Land Act, Vaikaradhoo MP Hussain Ziyad emphasized the necessity of clearly communicating the administration's failures to the President. He further noted that the government’s electoral setbacks are a direct consequence of parliamentarians being unable to freely voice the concerns of the public.

Hussain Ziyad, the Member of Parliament for the Vaikaradhoo constituency, has stated that the government's failure stems from the inability of lawmakers to freely express the concerns of the people.
MP Ziyad made these remarks during the debate on the bill to amend the Land Act.
Ziyad stated that while he generally supports the bill, he maintains certain concerns regarding its provisions. He noted that these issues could be thoroughly deliberated and amended during the committee stage.
Ziyad further noted that following the submission of this bill, it became evident on the floor that the government had also decided to propose a similar piece of legislation, remarking that this has consistently been the pattern of proceedings.
Furthermore, addressing various statements made by PNC members on the floor regarding housing projects, Ziyad noted that issues had arisen during the implementation of the Hiyaa Flat project under President Yameen's administration. He added that the public is well aware of who served as the Housing Minister at that time.
Ziyad further stated that refusing to accept today's events and simply posting on social media claiming to stand firmly with the President will not resolve the underlying issues. He noted that the election results serve as clear evidence that many things within the country have gone wrong.
I believe that the most beneficial course of action for the nation today is to speak the truth clearly to the President regarding the current situation. Simply posting messages on social media claiming to stand firmly with the President will not resolve these issues. The outcome of this election is a direct consequence of many things going wrong within the country; therefore, those who sincerely support the President must point out exactly where the mistakes were made.Hussain Ziyad, Member of Parliament for the Vaikaradhoo constituency.
Furthermore, Ziyad noted that one reason the President lost the elections was the absence of independent voices among the pro-government members in Parliament. He stated that members were unable to speak out against the government's mistakes due to the fear of facing disciplinary action from the party.
Ziyad noted that the public demonstrated their disapproval of those mistakes through their votes.
Ziyad stated that government members must have the independence to advocate for the rights of their constituents and the public within Parliament. He added that the failure to ensure this independence was the reason for their recent electoral losses.
We have repeatedly raised the issue of medicine shortages in this Parliament. However, the Member for the Kudahuvadhoo constituency insisted in this chamber that medicine was available. Honorable Speaker, the election results have now made it clear to the people of that constituency that medicine was, in fact, not available.Hussain Ziyad, Member of Parliament for the Vaikaradhoo constituency.
Ziyad noted that if members of parliament fail to advocate for the rights of their constituents, the public will continue to reject them in the future.
