Foreigner arrested with large quantities of alcohol and cash in Hulhumale' operation
Police have arrested a Bangladeshi national, Nazmul Hassan, following a raid on a plot in Hulhumale' that uncovered 40 bottles of alcohol and a significant amount of cash. During the operation, authorities also discovered alcohol concealed under the seat of his motorcycle; following the completion of legal procedures, he has been handed over to Immigration for deportation.

Police have seized a large quantity of alcohol and cash and arrested a foreign national during an operation conducted in Hulhumale'.
The items were seized during a joint operation conducted by Drug Enforcement and Counter-Narcotics Intelligence, with operational support from Hulhumale' Police. The seizure took place on March 11, 2026, following a court-authorized search of a property in Hulhumale'.
Police stated that during the search of the premises, 40 bottles containing suspected alcohol were discovered. Additionally, authorities seized a significant amount of cash believed to be linked to the case.
The individual arrested in connection with this case has been identified as Nazmul Hassan, a 27-year-old Bangladeshi national. He was taken into custody on allegations of illegal possession and trafficking of alcohol.
During the operation, authorities discovered alcohol inside the storage compartment of a motorcycle believed to be linked to the suspect. Police confirmed that the vehicle has since been towed for investigative purposes.
Furthermore, police stated that following the completion of all necessary legal procedures, Nazmul has been handed over to Maldives Immigration for deportation.
The Maldives Police Service is conducting continuous anti-narcotics operations as part of its ongoing efforts to protect the community from the dangers of drugs and alcohol.
