Police have identified the man found dead in the waters near the Hithadhoo swimming track in Addu City as Daniel Di Giovin, a 60-year-old Australian national residing in the Maldives on a work visa. An investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of death.

Police have confirmed that the foreign national found dead in Addu City, Hithadhoo, on Friday afternoon was an Australian citizen residing in the Maldives on a work visa.
Police have identified the deceased as Daniel Di Giovin, a 60-year-old Australian national. Authorities further disclosed that he had been residing in the Maldives under a work visa.
The deceased was discovered in the waters near the Hithadhoo swimming track area.
When the deceased was first discovered on Friday, police were unable to identify the individual and sought public assistance. At the time, authorities stated that no missing person reports matching the individual's description had been filed.
However, police investigations have now confirmed the identity of the deceased.
Police stated that an investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the death. Authorities have not yet confirmed any arrests in connection with the case.
