UK issues updated travel guidance for visitors to Maldives
British nationals have already been evacuated from Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The UK government is currently arranging charter flights to facilitate the safe return of its citizens.

Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has updated its travel advisory, placing the Maldives among the countries where travel is discouraged and urging tourists to remain vigilant.
The FCDO has not advised against travel to the Maldives, the updated guidance provides general safety information for travelers.
The newly issued warning from the FCDO also includes other popular destinations for British travelers, such as Cyprus, Turkey, and Sri Lanka.
As the conflict in the Middle East enters its eleventh day, officials note that even countries not directly involved in the hostilities are experiencing significant disruption. These impacts include airspace closures, flight cancellations, and wider interruptions to international travel routes.
In response to the unfolding situation, British nationals have already been evacuated from Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The UK government is currently arranging charter flights to facilitate the safe return of its citizens.
British nationals are therefore advised to closely monitor updates from airlines before traveling, confirm the validity of their travel insurance coverage, and register their travel itineraries with the FCDO.
