Ministry: Monitoring potential impact on Maldivian students amid evolving Middle East situation
The Maldivian government has initiated special measures to ensure the safety of Maldivian students and citizens in the Middle East amid escalating regional tensions. A ministerial committee has been established to oversee the situation, with relevant authorities closely monitoring the well-being of Maldivians residing in the affected areas. Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged citizens in the region to limit their movements and strictly adhere to safety guidelines provided by local authorities.

The Ministry of Higher Education has stated that the government is closely monitoring the evolving situation in the Middle East to determine if any Maldivian students are being affected.
The United States and Israel launched a series of strikes against Iran on Saturday, prompting retaliatory action from Tehran. Iran’s forceful response specifically targeted U.S. military bases across the region. These developments have led to a significant escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
In a press release, the Ministry stated that the government is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of Maldivian students residing in conflict-affected countries, amid the escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The Ministry stated that it is closely monitoring the situation in the region and is in continuous consultation with relevant authorities, diplomatic missions, and educational institutions to provide the necessary assistance and support to students. The Ministry further emphasized that the government is prioritizing the well-being of students during this time and is committed to ensuring they receive all required aid.
Emphasizing that student safety and security remain a top priority, the Ministry of Higher Education affirmed its commitment to taking all necessary measures to ensure their protection during this challenging time.
A special ministerial committee has been established to address and mitigate the potential challenges Maldivians may face due to the ongoing unrest in the Middle East. In conjunction with this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged all Maldivians residing in or traveling to Middle Eastern countries to take necessary safety precautions in light of the escalating conflict in the region.
In a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged Maldivians currently residing in conflict-affected countries to minimize outdoor movement as much as possible. The Ministry further advised citizens to strictly adhere to the safety and security instructions issued by the respective local authorities.
